The GELITA Health Initiative: supports innovative therapy in osteoarthritis
The GELITA Health Initiative was established by the GELITA Group, the developer of CH-Alpha, a product containing an optimized collagen hydrolysate that stimulates cartilage regeneration. The GHI’s objective is to intensively promote collagen hydrolysate research in the area of degenerative joint disease and disseminate this information to physicians, pharmacists, nutritional scientists and patients.
Scientists have been researching the positive effects of collagen hydrolysate on the cartilage matrix for some twenty years. The results obtained from studies have shown that collagen hydrolysate helps maintain healthy joint cartilage and considerably accelerates its regeneration when subjected to excessive stress.
Recent results from laboratory studies have shown that collagen hydrolysate stimulates chondrocyte metabolism and increases cartilage collagen synthesis by a factor of 2.5. Recent clinical studies indicate that patients who take collagen hydrolysate experience improved joint mobility and decreased subjective pain intensity.
Competitive athletes have been using collagen hydrolysate on a daily basis for years to strengthen their joints. Experience gained by sports physicians from its use indicates its excellent compatibility.
The GELITA Health Initiative will continue to support projects designed to research the efficacy of collagen hydrolysate. The processes that bring about joint wear and tear have still not been completely clarified. One of the most important goals of the GHI is to ensure that such clarification is brought about by appropriate research.
The GHI is particularly pleased with the dialog that continuously takes place between representatives of health care professionals and with patients. Considering that there is no causal treatment for osteoarthritis, every promising possibility for the prevention of the disease should be taken seriously.
